'Game of Thrones' final season is 'bigger than it's ever been'

Jon Snow may know nothing, but the actor who plays him, Kit Harington, knows plenty.
Harington spoke with Time magazine Friday about filming the final season of "Game of Thrones" and promises the show will go out with a bang.
"It's just bigger than it's ever been!" he said of the HBO hit, noting that he will return to Belfast, Northern Ireland, next week for more filming. "I don't know how I'm going to feel sometime next year when I've finished. It's quite a sudden shift, I guess, but it feels like the right time."
While audiences wait to see Harington return as Snow, they can see him as true-to-life historical figure Robert Catesby, a distant relative of Harington's who plotted to blow up Britain's Parliament in 1605. Harington plays Caresby in "Gunpowder," a new HBO miniseries running Dec. 18-20. Harington also developed and produced the show.
No return date has been announced for "Game of Thrones," but just last week actress Sophie Turner suggested the show may not come back until 2019.

Matt Damon Under Fire for Controversial Sexual Misconduct Comments

Matt Damon's ex-girlfriend and Good Will Hunting co-star Minnie Driver is sharing her thoughts on the actor's latest comments.

"God God, SERIOUSLY?" she wrote on Twitter after quoting an article about Damon's latest interview. "Gosh it's so *interesting how men with all these opinions about women's differentiation between sexual misconduct, assault and rape reveal themselves to be utterly tone deaf and as a result, systemically part of the problem( *profoundly unsurprising)."

————

In Wednesday's episode of ABC News' Popcorn With Peter Travers, Matt Damon shared his views regarding the wave of sexual misconduct allegations in Hollywood—and in doing so, opened himself up to widespread criticism. As more people come forward to expose their abusers, the actor said, "I think we're in this watershed moment. I think it's great. I think it's wonderful that women are feeling empowered to tell their stories—and it's totally necessary."

That being said, Damon argued there is "a spectrum of behavior" to take into consideration. "You know, there's a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right?" the Downsizing actor told Peter Travers. "Both of those behaviors need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn't be conflated, right?" In the case of Al Franken, for example, he would have "preferred if they had an Ethics Committee investigation." But, Damon argued, "We are so energized to kind of get retribution."

"We live in this culture of outrage and injury, and, you know, we're going to have to correct enough to kind of go, 'Wait a minute. None of us came here perfect.' You know what I mean?"

Damon then cited several disgraced public figures to make his point.

Admitting he doesn't "know all the details" about Louis C.K., who recently apologized for exposing himself to at least five women in professional settings, Damon said, "I don't do deep dives on this, but I did see his statement." (C.K. also confirmed he had masturbated in the presence of some of those women.) Still, Damon found the comedian's response "arresting" and believes he deserves another chance: "When he came out and said, 'I did this; I did these things; these women are all telling the truth,' I just remember thinking, 'Well, that's the sign of somebody who...well, we can work with that.'" Damon worries that "the clearer signal to men and to younger people is [to] deny it, because if you take responsibility for what you did, your life's going to get ruined. I mean, look, as I said—all of that behavior needs to be confronted, but there is a continuum. And on this end of the continuum where you have rape and child molestation or whatever, you know, that's prison. Right? That's what needs to happen. OK?"

On the other side of the continuum, the actor said, "We can talk about rehabilitation and everything else. That's criminal behavior and it needs to be dealt with that way. The other stuff is just kind of shameful and gross...I don't know Louis C.K.; I've never met him. I'm a fan of his, but I don't imagine he's going to do those things again. You know what I mean?" (After C.K. publicly apologized, The Orchard shelved I Love You, Daddy indefinitely, and FX and Netflix cut ties with him altogether.) "I imagine the price he's paid at this point is so beyond anything that he..." Damon said. "I just think we have to start delineating between what these behaviors are."

Franken, meanwhile, made a "terrible joke" when he was photographed groping Leeann Tweeden in 2006, Damon argued. "It's not funny. It's wrong and he shouldn't have done that."

Damon then brought up Harvey Weinstein, whom multiple women have accused of sexual assault and rape; the producer's lawyers strongly deny every allegation of nonconsensual sex.

("Mr. Weinstein has never at any time committed an act of sexual assault, and it is wrong and irresponsible to conflate claims of impolitic behavior or consensual sexual contact later regretted, with an untrue claim of criminal conduct," Weinstein's attorneys recently told E! News in a statement. "There is a wide canyon between mere allegation and truth, and we are confident that any sober calculation of the facts will prove no legal wrongdoing occurred.")

Regarding the dozens of allegations made against Weinstein, Damon said, "There are no pictures of that. He knew he was up to no good. There's no witnesses. There's no pictures. There's no braggadocio. So, [C.K., Franken and Weinstein] don't belong in the same category."

As for Weinstein, he said, "A lot of people said, 'Well, Harvey—everybody knew.' As you were saying, that's not true. Everybody knew what kind of guy he was in the sense that if you took a meeting with him, you knew he was tough and he was a bully, and that was his reputation. And he enjoyed that reputation, because he was making the best movies out there." Regarding rape claims, he said, "Nobody who made movies for him knew...Any human being would've put a stop to that, no matter who he was. They would've said absolutely no. You know what I mean?"

Though he's worked with Weinstein several times, Damon said he tried to keep his distance. "I knew I wouldn't want him married to anyone close to me. But that was the extent of what we knew, you know? So, that wasn't a surprise to anybody," he said. "When you hear 'Harvey this, Harvey that'—I mean, look at the guy! Of course he's a womanizer. I don't hang out with him."

As more people share their stories of sexual assault and harassment, Damon said, "I think the day of the confidentiality agreements is over. I think it's just completely over. Ten years ago, you made a claim against me and I had a big movie coming out, OK? I have $100 million, or I have a movie that is personally important to me coming out, and close to the release of that film, you say, 'Matt Damon grabbed my butt and stuck his tongue down my throat.' We would then go to mediation and organize a settlement. I'd go, 'I don't want this out there. Peter's going to go out and talk to the press and run his mouth, and it's going to be overshadowing the opening of this movie. How much money do you want?' The lawyers would get together, and they do this cost-benefit analysis, and they'd go, 'Oh, this is what it's worth.' And I look at the number and go, 'OK, I'll pay it, but you can never talk about this again. You're f--king lying about this, but never talk about this again.'" Because of social media, everything is different. "The moment a claim is made—if you make that same claim today to me—I would be scorched earth. I'd go, 'I don't care if it costs $10 million to fight this in court with you for 10 years; you are not taking my name from me. You are not taking my name and my reputation from me. I've worked too hard for it. And I earned it. You can't just blow me up like that.' Once a claim is made, there will no longer be settlements. That's my prediction, just based on what I've seen."

"Isn't that a good thing?" Travers asked, noting many women had been unable to share their stories because of nondisclosure agreements. "One hundred percent," Damon replied, adding that "every woman who's coming forward with one of these stories needs to be listened to and heard." As Damon talks to more of his female colleagues, he admitted, "I can't think of any of them who don't have a story at some point in their life, and most of them have more than one."

After the interview with Travers aired, The New York Daily News criticized Damon's comments as "tone-deaf," Vulture argued the actor's opinions were "bad" and The Telegraph called it a "car-crash interview." AV Club, meanwhile, said the actor's "response carries the fire-and-brimstone fury of a nice guy who sees the destruction of his personal reputation as one of the worst things that could possibly befall a Hollywood hopeful." As the backlash against Damon continued to grow, one Twitter user simply wrote, "In 2018, Matt Damon should be cancelled."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Announce a Wedding Date: May 19, 2018

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry on May 19, 2018, Kensington Palace announced Friday. As previously announced, they will tie the knot at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Clarence House announced on Nov. 27 that Harry had proposed to Meghan earlier in the month, after receiving her parents' blessing. "It was a cozy night. We were just roasting chicken," the former Suits actress said in an interview with the BBC. "It was just an amazing surprise and it was so sweet, and natural and very romantic. He got down on one knee."

Calling it "a really nice moment," Harry said, "It was just the two of us. I think I managed to catch her by surprise." Megan, who has retired from acting, smiled and confirmed she was, in fact, taken aback. "I could barely let you finish proposing!" she said. "I said, 'Can I say yes now!'"
Harry presented Meghan with a ring of his own design, using a center stone he sourced from Botswana—flanked by two smaller diamonds from his late mother Princess Diana's collection.

"The fact that I fell in love with Meghan so quickly was confirmation for me that all the stars were aligned," Harry said of their seemingly whirlwind romance. "Everything was just perfect."

On Nov. 28, Kensington Palace announced Harry and Meghan had selected a wedding venue and will marry in the month of May. Since 1863, the 14th century chapel has hosted a number of royal weddings—and in 2015, after a civil ceremony, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles' marriage was blessed there. The royal family will pay for Harry and Meghan's wedding.

The wedding shouldn't interfere with the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton's third child, due in April 2018; Harry's unborn relative bumps him to sixth in line to the British throne.

Taylor Swift may only be 28 years old, but judging by this list of milestones, many of her wildest dreams have already come true.

In honor of the megastar's birthday today, Swifties all over the world are celebrating in her honor. As some fans highlighted online, the songstress accurately predicted early on that she would be a great success by this point in her life.

‘Super Size Me’ Star Morgan Spurlock Admits To Sexually Abusing Women In Confessional

Hopefully documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, 47, is going to set a trend with male sexual abusers in Hollywood, as the Super Size Me star has personally owned up to his awful  behavior towards women in a shocking confessional on Dec. 13. He penned the 1,000 word letter that linked to his Twitter account that began, “As I sit around watching hero after hero, man after man, fall at the realization of their past indiscretions, I don’t sit by and wonder ‘who will be next’ I wonder, ‘when will they come for me?’”
“You see, I’ve come to understand after months of these revelations, that I am not some innocent bystander, I am also a part of the problem. I’m sure I’m not alone in this thought, but I can’t blindly act as though I didn’t somehow play a part in this, and if I’m going truly represent myself as someone who has built a career on finding the truth, then it’s time for me to be truthful as well. I am part of the problem,” he continued.

Morgan revealed how he had a drunken sexual encounter with a girl in college and only realized it was non-consensual when she wrote a short story about it for a class and claimed to have been raped. He also revealed that eight years ago a female assistant quit after he called her “hot pants” or “sex pants.” He wrote “she came to me and said if I didn’t pay her a settlement, she would tell everyone. Being who I was, it was the last thing I wanted, so of course, I paid. I paid for peace of mind. I paid for her silence and cooperation. Most of all, I paid so I could remain who I was. I am part of the problem,” he bravely revealed.

The filmmaker even confessed to the pain he brought every relationship he ever had through infidelity. “I have been unfaithful to every wife and girlfriend I have ever had. Over the years, I would look each of them in the eye and proclaim my love and then have sex with other people behind their backs. I hurt them. And I hate it. But it didn’t make me stop. The worst part is, I’m someone who consistently hurts those closest to me. From my wife, to my friends, to my family, to my partners & co-workers. I have helped create a world of disrespect through my own actions.” See pics of Morgan, here.

Morgan admitted some deeply personal issues that he thinks may have contributed to his actions, including the fact that is father abandoned his mother when he was young and that he was a sexual abuse victim himself growing up. “Was it the sexual abuse I suffered as a boy and as a young man in my teens? Abuse that I only ever told to my first wife, for fear of being seen as weak or less than a man?” he admitted.

“I am part of the problem. We all are. But I am also part of the solution. By recognizing and openly admitting what I’ve done to further this terrible situation, I hope to empower the change within myself. We should all find the courage to admit we’re at fault.  I will do better. I will be better. I believe we all can,” he ended his missive. You can read his letter in its entirety here.
Morgan’s confession comes on the same day that hip hop mogul Russell Simmons, 60, was accused of rape by three women in a New York Times expose, which he “vehemently” denied. PBS broadcaster Tavis Smiley, 53, was suspended by the network and his nightly talk show yanked after sexual misconduct allegations were found to have merit. And the day began with actress/producer Salma Hayek‘s heartbreaking NY Times op-ed where she laid bare her alleged sexual harassment, horrific manipulation and abuse at the hands of now disgraced super producer Harvey Weinstein, 65. At least Morgan has had the strength to come clean and admit his misdeeds and has vowed to be a better person. It would be nice if more powerful men could do the same instead of waiting to being brought down by their accusers.

Avengers Infinity War: Hugh Jackman SPEAKS OUT on Wolverine Avengers 4 rumours

WOLVERINE star Hugh Jackman has spoken out on rumours he could return for Avengers Infinity War’s sequel, Avengers 4.

He’s played the X-Men superhero in nine movies across three trilogies and bowed out earlier this year in Logan.

However Jackman admitted he would consider returning as Wolverine if he could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside the Avengers.

Now with news of a possible Fox merger (the studio owns the rights to the X-Men movies) with Disney, it looks like Wolverine join up – but will Jackman playing him?

The 49-year-old Aussie has spoken out on the idea, during an interview for his new movie, The Greatest Showman.
Speaking with Collider, the Wolverine star said: “It's interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together.

“And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head.

“But it was like, ‘Oh well, that's not gonna happen,’ and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline, it was just the possibility of it and who knows what's gonna happen, obviously, I was like, ‘Hang on!’

“But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there.”

Jackman has previously said he wants Tom Hardy to replace him as Wolverine.
