WOLVERINE star Hugh Jackman has spoken out on rumours he could return for Avengers Infinity War’s sequel, Avengers 4.
He’s played the X-Men superhero in nine movies across three trilogies and bowed out earlier this year in Logan.
However Jackman admitted he would consider returning as Wolverine if he could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside the Avengers.
Now with news of a possible Fox merger (the studio owns the rights to the X-Men movies) with Disney, it looks like Wolverine join up – but will Jackman playing him?
The 49-year-old Aussie has spoken out on the idea, during an interview for his new movie, The Greatest Showman.
Speaking with Collider, the Wolverine star said: “It's interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together.
“And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head.
“But it was like, ‘Oh well, that's not gonna happen,’ and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline, it was just the possibility of it and who knows what's gonna happen, obviously, I was like, ‘Hang on!’
“But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there.”
Jackman has previously said he wants Tom Hardy to replace him as Wolverine.
